10th U.S.-Mexico Bi-national Health Week

El Paso, Tx - From October 4 to 16, 2010, the Consulate General of Mexico, the City of El Paso Department of Public Health and Pan American Health Organization with other organizations in the region, will give the community of El Paso, Texas and Southern New Mexico various health services as part of the U.S.-Mexico 10th Bi-national Health Week.  A press conference will be held on:

The Bi-national Health Week (BHW) is a joint effort of community organizations, federal and state agencies with the objective of improving the health and welfare of the Latin American population living in the United States and Canada.

Activities held each year include informational workshops, the channeling of basic services as well as health insurance programs, promotion and health education in addition to vaccines and free screenings.

The 10th Bi-national Health Week will take place from October 4-16, 2010 in at least 40 states in the U.S. and 3 Canadian provinces, with the participation of the consular networks in Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru. Five national campaigns will focus on issues of Addiction Prevention and Gang Members in Adolescents, Obesity and Diabetes, Disability and Autism Awareness, Oral Health and Access to Various Health Services.
As part of the 10th edition of Bi-national Health Week, the Consulate General of Mexico in El Paso, the City of El Paso Department of Public Health, and the Pan American Health Organization / World Health Organization (PAHO/WHO) together with various organizations of local public health will develop the following activities:
