Gandhi, King, Mandela, and Me: Together for Peace

The Sam Donaldson Center for Communication Studies at The University of Texas El Paso will host “Gandhi, King, Mandela, and Me: Together for Peace” at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, at the Undergraduate Learning Center, Room 106.

“Recent events around the world have prompted numerous individuals and groups in the area to take a stance of non-violence,” said Dr. Arvind Singhal, Director of Research and Outreach of the Sam Donaldson Center. “The Together for Peace event will reach out to the people of El Paso, Juárez, Las Cruces, and the UTEP community, inviting them to gather together in a demonstration of their desire for peaceful resolution of violence around globe.”

Participants are encouraged to bring along canned goods to form a living sculpture that will progress during the event. The canned goods will be donated the West Texas Food Bank and Rotaract Juárez Campestre Club.

Together for Peace is sponsored by the Sam Donaldson Center for Communication Studies in partnership with the Indian Student Association, the National Society of Black Engineers, Frontera Retorica, African American Studies Program, Lambda Pi Eta Communication Honor Society.
